Mevagissey was once the centre of the pilchard industry on the South Coast and most of the quaint cottages around the harbour were originally built during these times. The stunning Fountain Inn is a mere 30m down the road from the front door and is the oldest pub in the village dating from the 15th century. Mevagissey is well-endowed with a great variety of further pubs, shops and restaurants.
